I've gotten older from when i played the previous FF(never played XI or XII) games and quite frankly i want a JRPG thats more bloody, more violent, has more freedom and isn't bound to the confinements of your typical JRPG.

that's the thing, the people who join you in co-op have to be around your level and doing the same things, they didn't want people to get run through the entire game and then say "this is to easy it's boring" then quit.
It's meant to be a challenging RPG, single player is its focus and the online is just part of the SP experience.
